The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development offers programs and services to assist individuals in rural areas with their home lending needs. One such program is the Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program.
Single Family Housing Guaranteed Loan Program
This program assists approved lenders in providing low- or moderate-income households with the opportunity to own a home in eligible rural areas. The home must be the applicant's primary residence and be modest, decent, safe and sanitary. Applicants may use the loan proceeds to build, rehabilitate, improve or relocate a home. Approved lenders receive a 90% loan note guarantee through the program to reduce the risk of making 100% loans to borrowers. Applicants must meet the same eligibility requirements described for the Single Family Housing Direct Home Loans program.
